What's Hot Now!!

Azalea 'Encore Series' - The first reliably repeat blooming, Azalea 'Encore Autumn Amethyst'evergreen  Azaleas!!  That's right, they bloom spring AND fall. What more could we ask for? How about big, colorful flowers and a nice, compact habit? That works for us.  'Autumn Amethyst,' shown.

Ceratostigma plumbaginoides 'Imperial Blue'

Ceratostigma plumbaginoides - Plumbago is an amazing, and suprisingly easy fall stunner.  Large, Phlox-like clusters of bright blue flowers put on a fantastic show in late summer and fall.  As if that wasn't enough, the foliage turns scarlet too!  'Imperial Blue,' Shown.

Cimicifuga - Our signature plant! The yummy

Cimicifuga simplex 'Atropurpurea'

fragrance that perfumes the air around these awesome plants is to die for. Blooming only in late summer and fall against lacy, almost fern-like foliage this is one plant everyone should have! They come in dark leaf,  'Atropurpurea' (shown), and green each with creamy white flowers.

Echinacea - You can't call them Purple Coneflowers any more! Echinacea 'Tikki Torch'Why? Because the latest breeding has created some fantastic color variations along with improve vigor and habit. We have all the best varieties including the very new 'Tikki Torch,' (shown). We also carry the 'Big Sky Series,' 'Harvest Moon,' 'Green Envy,' 'Double Decker,' and many many more.

Hibiscus moscheutos -  The Hardy Hibiscus are at their peakHibiscus moscheutos 'Crown Jewel' right now. Incredible, plate sized, open faced blooms in a wide range of vibrant colors that set the early fall garden on fire.   'Crown Jewel,' shown has coppery colored foliage too.  Increasingly more available, and in new colors, once you try it, you'll need more than one! We did ;-)

Hydrangea -  Extend the season with the late Hydrangea paniculata 'Limelight'blooming varieties! That's right late summer and fall bloomers that love sun! We have them, everything from, 'Limelight,' (enormous heads of chartreuse green flowers age bright white before turning shades of pink), or 'Pinky Winky,' huge conical bi-colored, pink and white flower heads, or 'Endless Summer,' a re-blooming mop head! Nothing makes an instant bouquet in the garden better. If you've wandered our display garden, you know we LOVE all  Hydrangeas! We have LOTS more to choose from.

Hypericum - St. John's Wort never looked so good! This is not a Hypericum 'Mystical Orange'groundcover, it's a shrub! A super hardy, super easy to grow shrub with vibrant yellow flowers all summer, and amazing colorful fruit in fall and winter.  Widely used in the cut flower industry, and finally available for the rest of us!

Grasses -  Don't be afraid, our selection of grasses won't take Miscanthus sinensis 'Gold Bar'over the yard, but they will add fluid motion, wonderful texture, and color.  Some of our favorite late summer grasses are Northern Sea Oats (Chasmanthium latifolium shown), Feather Reed Grass (Calamagrostis 'Karl Foerester' & 'Avalanche'), Pennisetum 'Karley Rose', ' 'Hamilin,' 'Red Bunny Tails,' and Panicum 'Haense Herms,' 'Shenandoah,' Molinia 'Variegata,' and 'Strahlenquelle,' ' Miscanthus s. 'Goldbar,' (shown) just to name a few!

Lagerstroemia - Lagerstroemia 'Arapaho'Crape Myrtles are indispensible for late summer and early fall color with huge clusters of blooms. These gorgeous plants love heat and baking sun.  After the blooms are gone, the wonderful fall leaf color and multicolored bark add interest the rest of the year.  Our selection includes dwarf and tree sized varieties in shades of pinks and reds.

Rudbeckia subtomentosa 'Henry Eilers' - Rudbeckia subtomentosa 'Henry Eilers' A fantastic new variety found growing along side a road in Illinois, so you know it's tough and hardy. Amazing rolled, or quilled petals, 2" golden yellow flowers, very floriferous, and tall!  Wow, we're breathless.

Sedum - It just wouldn't be fall without sedums. One of the Sedum 'Mr. Goodbud'easiest plants to grow, they are super cold hardy, very drought tolerant, and need little fertilization.  Top that off (no pun intended) with massive clouds of flowers in fall, and you have a winner in our book. 'Mr. Goodbud,' (shown) is one of the best and newest varieties we are proud to offer.

Solidago -  Don't let the name fool you, all Solidago rugosa 'Fireworks'Goldenrod are not created equal.  There have been great strides in hybridizing fanastic plants without the weedy tendancies. One of our favorites is 'Fireworks,' (shown).  We've grown it in our display gardens for years, and every year it is a show stopper.

Vitis vinifera 'Purpurea Nana' - Sure, it's a Vitis vinifera 'Purpurea Nana'mouthful to say, but worth every syllable.  This Dwarf Purple Leaf Grape, is show stopping all year, but fall is when it's at its best. The dark reddish purple leaves turn scarlet red.  Nearly black edible fruit (a little tart for us) persists into winter if the birds don't get it first.  And the awesome shaggy bark creates bold lines for winter interest.  Absolutely stunning when backlit by the afternoon sun.
